Art Heist at Aloft: The Vinyl Guitar Theft

In a surreal twist straight from the pages of art-world folklore, one of Voodo Fe’s dopest and most rebellious works has vanished.

The Missing Masterpiece

   •   Title: Vinyl Guitar

   •   Medium: Sculpture – Guitar base with shattered vinyl records

   •   Dimensions: 20” x 36”

Crafted from fragments of classic records and built on the frame of a real guitar, Vinyl Guitar wasn’t just an artwork—it was a sonic rebellion frozen in form. A collision of music history and defiant craftsmanship.

The Heist

On the evening of January 28, 2025, during a live exhibition at the Aloft / Marriott, Vinyl Guitar was mysteriously stolen from its display.

Just days before the public unveiling, Hershey Alexander, Voodo Fe’s manager, made the shocking call: the piece was gone.

Security footage shows a figure making off with the sculpture in a swift, calculated move. No alarms, no witnesses, just a clean swipe—leaving behind a hole in our installation and a bigger question echoing in the air:

Who steals a rebel’s voice?

From Tragedy to Legacy

Rather than mourn the loss, we’re turning up the volume.

Like the legendary theft of the Mona Lisa in 1911, which launched her into global fame, Vinyl Guitar now enters the pantheon of iconic disappearances. And with it, a movement is born.
